Kitakata is a city located in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 November 2018, the city had an estimated population of 47,184 in 16,668 households, and a population density of 85 persons per km². The total area of the city was 554.63 square kilometres. Kitakata was once written '??', which meant 'northern place'.
