Translated from French-Africa Radio, formerly Africa 1, is a Franco-African radio station created in Gabon in 1981. Born with French and Gabonese funds, the radio split very early into two almost independent structures, Africa 1 Gabon and Africa 1 Paris. At the start of 2000, France withdrew from Africa 1 Gabon, which came under the control of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya in 2007 and has experienced serious economic difficulties since. For its part, Africa 1 Paris posts good audience scores and manages to stabilize its presence in the French radio landscape.
